Our story
Our beginnings
In 2011, Sariah started in the book industry as a Barefoot Books Ambassador, marketing and promoting award-winning, beautifully illustrated children's books throughout New Zealand. A year later, in 2012, Jean became a Barefoot Books Ambassador and brought the company's products into Montessori schools and early childhood centres.
Our present and future
Over the years, Sariah and Jean were approached by bookshops and retailers who wanted to stock Barefoot Books because their customers kept asking for them. In 2022, they established Book Treehouse to supply Barefoot Books products to bookshops, retailers and the wholesale industry.
The range keeps growing, with children's books by independent New Zealand writers and handcrafted educational felt playsets.
